Yes, mobile phones can be used in education
It makes us really happy when we hear that Poll Everywhere is advancing the pedagogical use of cellular technology. This little tid-bit came from a happy customer of ours:
We loved the engagement and interactivity of your product. Our students were appreciative of our efforts using your software. We do not let the students use cell phones during the school day – they actually have to pay $25 if it is seen by a teacher. That said, they really appreciated the opportunity to use them, and we appreciated the fact that they were being used for an educational purpose.
Schools are starting to recognize the educational benefits of mobile technology, and we love being the driving force behind that.
If you want to integrate Poll Everywhere into their curriculum check out Liz Kolb’s website, “Cell phones in Learning” at http://www.cellphonesinlearning.com/ and consider picking up her book, “Toys to Tools”. At the very least, create a poll at http://www.polleverywhere.com/multiple_choice_polls/new, download it as a PowerPoint slide, and incorporate a poll into your next lesson plan; your students will love you for it!
