Texting in to Radio Stations
We wanted to share an innovative use of Poll Everywhere from a high school radio station.
Jeff Lazovick and Vinny Panico of WCVH (Hunterdon Central Regional High School) use Poll Everywhere for song requests and listener interaction. Here’s what Jeff had to say:
Running a request show at a high school radio station in New Jersey is very difficult, especially when our school board prohibits our student DJs from conversing with our listeners directly over the phone. At first the only solution for having listeners send in requests was through email which led to a tepid response.
After a few shows, one of our IT techs introduced me to Poll Everywhere and it completely revolutionized our station. Poll Everywhere gives our listeners an easy alternative to send in requests and dedications. Listeners can now text our call letters and their message which I receive and can then relay to our student DJs. It is quick & easy, and has really propelled our request show to new heights. Within the first show the number of requests quadrupled, and they haven’t slowed down.
Thanks for the story, guys!
Try using clickers to do interactive radio… “Click ‘A’ for country musi… oh wait, you’re all over 200 feet away.”
