Want to customize polls to the fullest? Are you a developer or a team of developers?

We’re writing to let everyone know to check out and support the charitable work that Daniel Cohen has put into the beginnings of a Ruby-based API wrapper that works with a Poll Everywhere account. Right now, it will let you read and query the polls in your account as well as programmatically send in votes to a specific poll. Using this, you could in theory create a completely customized view and interface into your polls as well as accept votes through virtually any medium. Want to hook up Twilio-style IVR voting? You could do it quickly and easily with Daniel’s work.

Check out Daniel’s post on it here: http://thenice.tumblr.com/post/851284073/poll-everywhere-ruby-api-wrapper
And see the source and download the library from github: http://github.com/webmapps/Poll-Everywhere-Ruby-API-Wrapper

We hope to see some creative implementations out there that go beyond “simple polling” and do interesting things to interact with audiences in real-time. We may just go ahead and contribute to Daniel’s initial work here and extend this wrapper API with even more functionality as well; such is the beauty of open source and collaborating online.
