Canadian SMS Number transition from 32075 to 37607
We’ll be changing our Canadian shortcode from 32075 to 37607 by April 30th, 2011, which affects all users and customers in Canada.
Why are you changing?
We’re changing providers to drop the use of the word “CAST” in front of all messages sent to 32075. We’re also changingto increase reliability – Even one outage in a year is too much when you’re standing on stage. We’re also switching to this particula shortcode number because we use the same number for some users in the US, simplifying instructions for mixed US and Canadan audiences.
How does this affect you and using Poll Everywhere?
All responses will now be sent to 37607 instead of 32075 for Canadian-based participants and the prefix keyword “CAST” is no longer needed at the start of every message sent in from Canadian participants. Everything else remains the same. When we switch your Poll Everywhere account, all your polls will automatically update, droping the “CAST” (even in PowerPoint), and changing the instructions area to read 37607. This will only happen if you currently have Canada selected as your region.
When will the change take place for my account?
By April 30th, 2011, all Canadian users and customers will be transitioned to 37607. All new account signups will be automatically configured to use 37607. There’s one exception…..
What if I have an event planned and I have pre-printed materials that say “32075”?
No worries, we can extend your account on 32075 until your event (but not past June 1, 2011). Just email us at support@polleverywhere.com. Let us know when your event is taking place and we will make sure you can keep using 32075 for your planned event. This is only on an as-needed, per-request basis.
How are you notifying people?
Every user who has used Poll Everywhere in the last two months and has Canada selected as their region will be receiving an email linking to this blog post. Also, be sure to follow @polleverywhere on Twitter for service status updates.
Thanks! Isn’t it great to kill that silly CAST?
